A new monthly get-together at the All Saints Centre on Springfield Road in Uplands is set to take place on Sunday, February 23.
The initiative aims to encourage an increased sense of community and belonging.
The inaugural even will focus on the area’s history, with various activities for adults and children and a display of photographs showcasing how Uplands has evolved over the decades. It will run between 2pm and 4pm. Anyone who has photos of Uplands in past years is encouraged to bring their pictures along to share.

The Victorian All Saints Centre building, which belongs to All Saints church, was originally a school. It later served as a community centre and then a day care centre for the elderly. It is currently used by The Grove educational project.
Lucy Thwaite, a member of the Uplands Community Hub team, told the Stroud Times: “’We already offer a regular monthly get together at Grange View Independent Living hub. We hope this second venue will add to our appeal.
“The All Saints Centre provides the perfect setting for local people to gather to share experiences, and build a stronger, more connected community.”
The free event will have ‘My Home’ as a theme for various craft activities. There will also be a quiz about the area aimed at children, and tea and other refreshments will be on offer on a pay as you can basis.
Uplands Community Hub team member, Megan Sheer, said: “The event promises to be an interesting afternoon for both long time residents and newcomers. We’re hoping lots of people will want to be a part of this exciting new chapter in the life of our community.”
