Appeal for witnesses to non-dwelling burglary and theft of catalytic converter

MOST READ

Police in Stroud are appealing for information about a non-dwelling burglary and theft of a catalytic converter that took place last month.

It was reported that an unknown offender had climbed over the wall of a property on Tinkley Lane in Nympsfield between 5pm on Friday 21 May and 10am on Monday 24 May before going into a workshop and removing a catalytic converter from a vehicle inside.

Investigating officers have been doing house to house and CCTV enquiries in the area and are now appealing for any witnesses who may have seen suspicious activity or a vehicle which was seen and not local to the area.

Anyone with information can contact the Constabulary using the website, quoting incident 289 of 24 May: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/contact/af/contact-us/us/a-crime-that-has-already-been-reported/

Alternatively you can call 101 and quote the same incident number.

There are some protective measures drivers can consider to help reduce the risk to their vehicles. These include:

-Parking vehicles close to walls, fences, kerbs and garages with the exhaust closest to these, making gaining access to the underneath of the vehicle more difficult

-Where possible park your car in a locked garage

-Avoid parking your car partially on the pavement and if using a car park consider parking between other parked vehicles

-Consider CCTV, security lights and alarms where possible.

-Consider purchasing catalytic converter covers or clamps which are widely available and offer protection.

More advice on how to help keep your vehicle safe from crime can be found on the Constabulary’s website here: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/cp/crime-prevention/theft-from-a-vehicle/vehicle-safe-and-sound/
