Arrest made following report of sexual assault on teenage boy in popular Stroud park

An arrest has been made as part of an investigation into a report a man sexually assaulted a teenage boy in Stroud.

Police received an online report which stated an unknown man had approached the teenager whilst he was sat on a bench at a park in Lansdown.

The man went on to sexually assault the child by placing his hand on his thigh and genitals over his jeans without the boy’s consent.

This took place at around 5pm on Thursday 5 August.

Officers have conducted a number of enquiries since the incident was reported and a 33-year-old man from Stroud was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault by touching earlier today (Wednesday 3 September).

The man remains in custody at this time pending further enquiries.

Investigating officers are now asking anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident or who saw what happened to make contact.
