Arson attack closes Stroud town centre toilets

A family toilet cubicle which provides baby changing facilities at Bedford Street in Stroud is shut after it was set fire, today, Thursday.

The toilet block is owned by Stroud District Council.

Council officers are assessing the damage, but it is thought the wall, floor, toilet pan, baby changing unit, roof and lighting will all need to be replaced.

The cubicle will remain closed until the work is completed.

The other toilets in the Bedford Street block will remain open daily from 7am – 7pm including one disabled cubicle which is accessible with a RADAR key.

“This deplorable act of vandalism will affect families visiting Stroud. It is likely to cost several thousand pounds of taxpayers’ money to repair.” said Cllr Chloe Turner, Chair of Stroud District Council Environment Committee.
