At around 6.10pm, an unknown man tried to smash a downstairs window in an attempt to gain entry to a house on Upper Church Road. The homeowner disturbed the suspect, who was described as possibly wearing a red hat, and he subsequently fled the scene.

Enquiries are ongoing. Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area at the time or who has any information or footage that could assist with the investigation.

As the darker nights continue, homeowners are advised to install a ‘WIDE’ combination of security devices to help protect your home, shed or garage from burglary as well as ensuring that back gates are secure.

A ‘WIDE’ combination includes:

  • Window locks
  • Indoor lights on timer switches
  • Double door locks or deadbolts
  • External lights on a sensor
