Barefooted man spotted trying to break into cars

A barefooted man was spotted trying the door handles of parked cars in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police were called to a report of the man trying the door handles of cars parked on Bowbridge Lane and London Road, Stroud, at around 2.55am on Saturday.

Enquiries are continuing and anyone with information is asked to contact Gloucestershire Constabulary through the website, quoting incident 102 of 17 February: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/contact/af/contact-us/us/a-crime-that-has-already-been-reported/

Officers are reminding people to lock their cars when being left overnight and not to leave valuable items or anything of sentimental value inside or on view.

Mobile phones, coins for the car park, sunglasses, packs of medication or other items that can earn quick cash are irresistible to the opportunist thief. Wallets, handbags, purses and credit cards should never be left in an unattended vehicle.

In addition, vehicle registration and insurance documents should never be left in your car as this could allow a thief to pretend to be the owner of your vehicle and sell it on.

Anyone who witnesses suspicious activity taking place and can see offenders nearby is asked to report this immediately to police by calling 999.
