This Saturday, 5th November at 5 pm, the bells of St Laurence Church Stroud, will ring in recognition of the start of COP 27, the United Nations Climate Change Conference.
“The bells of Stroud have a history of over 300 years of ringing for civic, as well as religious and family events. They rang to celebrate the passing of the Olympic Torch in 2012; for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and at the deaths of the Duke of Edinburgh, HM the Queen, and Major Tom. They are very much part of the soundscape of Stroud,” explained David Pouncey, Tower Captain at St Laurence.
“With the full support of the Rector, we are ringing on Saturday at the same time as towers all over the country, to draw attention to this event of worldwide significance.”
