In rude health, Slimbridge co-manager Adam Coyle is relishing the opportunity to go toe-to-toe with Hellenic Premier Division title favourites Worcester City.

Slinmbridge, fresh from a 6-0 Hellenic Premier Division win at Longlevens, welcome Worcester to Thornhill Park on Saturday. Chris Cornes’ side are currently second in the table, two points behind leaders Corsham with four games in hand. However, Coyle’s Swans’ outfit are wedged firmly the play-offs in fourth after a remarkable winning sequence.

Coyle said: “To win five league games in a row, when four of them are away from home, in any league is a brilliant achievement and full credit to the whole squad for the reaction from a couple of well below par performances over the Christmas period.

“It shows the strength in depth we have, whatever eleven we choose it’s nice for myself and Deaks (Tom Deakin) to know that behind us on the bench are match winners, and that showed at Longlevens where three subs came on and scored.”

Coyle is relishing welcome Worcester to Slimbridge on Saturday: “We, as a whole club are really looking forward to the Worcester City game, it’s going to be a lot of hard work on and off the pitch, and it will almost feel like an away game, but we won’t mind that as we’re good away from home and we know our amazing home fans will support us.

“City are arguably one of the best teams in the country at Step 5, so we know we will have to be at our very best if we want to get the win, but we’re in a very good place at the moment and full of confidence going into the game.”

Slimbridge AFC play at Thornhill Park, Wisloe Road, Cambridge, Gloucestershire, GL2 7AF. Admission is £7 for Adults, £5 for Concessions and Club Members, with Under 16s priced at £2, and Under 12s free.
