The Vintage Motor Cycle Club (VMCC) South Cotswold Section’s annual Boxing Day gathering was held at the Hunters Hall at Kingscote, near Tetbury, writes Rich Kelsey.
This was the first Boxing Day meet at this venue, although the VMCC meets here at other times of the year. All meetings are organised by the South Cotswold – VMCC section. The group also meets throughout the year at other venues in the South Cotswold and Severn Vale areas of Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire. The VMCC was originally formed in 1946 by a band of 38 enthusiasts and now boasts a Worldwide membership of more than 10,000.
The group welcomes riders on machines of any age and type – VMCC motorcycle types represent a plethora of motoring history, from veteran (pre-1914), vintage (1915-1930), post vintage (1931-1945), to post-war and classic bikes (1946-1996).
Members often ride modern bikes to meetings as well, and this year’s Boxing Day gathering saw mist and fog, giving an atmospheric feeling to a very well attended meet.
Bikes from across the globe made the meeting varied and interesting for members and spectators alike. Also on view were some classic cars including a cracking Ford Cortina mark three.
Cheers to the VMCC organisers, pub staff, and all that exhibited and spectated.
