The luxury independent department store, Sandersons Boutique, has unveiled a new food offer to delight shoppers seven days a week.
The team at Choux Bun Appetit have welcomed diners over the weekend to their new patisserie, eager to sample the range of heart flutteringly beautiful French desserts and pastries, which are made daily on the premises.
Choux Bun Appetit takes over the space from the owners of Italian coffee shop, Terra, who are wanting to focus their energy on their rapidly expanding wholesale business and Non solo pasta, which remains open at the Five Valleys indoor market.
Owner of Choux Bun Appetit, Josh Ambridge, is no stranger to Five Valleys as his business has been part of the centre’s indoor market since May last year. He commented on the venture: “After being established at the centre’s indoor market for just over a year I feel certain that this expansion is the perfect opportunity to allow me and my business to flourish.
“My customers are already saying how thrilled they are to be able to enjoy my creations alongside a larger menu and to be able to soak up the atmosphere in this high-class environment.
“By relocating my patisserie to Sandersons I offer my customers a full experience guiding them through beautiful and comfortable surroundings, a full delicious menu and the very best in customer service.”
Customers can expect to find Josh’s popular pastries, including his famous macarons, as well as Opera cakes, eclairs, cheesecakes and tarts in an overwhelming choice of imaginative flavours.
Expanding his menu Josh will also be offering a range of savoury brunch and lunch options as well as a selection of hot and cold drinks.
Putting a French spin on the quintessentially British experience, the afternoon tea menu promises tantalising treats such as the pastry of the day, served alongside picture-perfect sandwiches, homemade scones and locally sourced jam.
Josh is from Coaley near Stroud and is acutely focused on flavour, using the best ingredients and striving to ensure everything is made fresh.
Josh started his career as a chef in a small pub doing his apprenticeship at Trouble House in Tetbury for a year before moving on to Calcot Manor for three years. Josh then moved to Lords of the Manor in Stow on the Wold where he worked up to being Junior Sous Chef. He entered the South West Chef of the Year competition twice reaching the finals both times and winning ‘Best Presentation’ and ‘Young National Chef of the Year’ in 2019, cooking at the London Olympia in front of a live audience.
Throughout his career, Josh developed a deep love for the art of French pastry making and wanted to start his own pastry business hoping to make a name for himself and have his own restaurant and patisserie one day.
That dream is now realised and both Choux Bun Appetit and Sandersons are open seven days a week offering shoppers a chance to indulge in a real foodie experience whilst browsing the luxury brands on offer in ladies and men’s fashion, beauty and accessories.
Sandersons is home to brands which include Barbour, Barbour International, Holland Cooper, Pennyblack, Jacob Cohen, Hackett and soon to be Hugo Boss.
The store has also built up a reputation for luxury fragrances with brands including Parfums de Marly, House of Oud, Atkinsons and Chanel.
Store Manager at Sandersons Boutique, Benjamin Lappin, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Choux Bun Appetit to the store. The food and drink perfectly matches the Sandersons shopping offer and we know our customers are just going to love visiting and trying out all of the wonderful cakes and pastries on display.
“We wish Josh and his team all the best.”
The expansion has allowed Josh to employ two members of staff as well as an expanded food menu taking diners from brunch through to afternoon tea.
