Breaking news: Mark Cooper in sensational return to Swindon Town?

MOST READ

Mark Cooper is being linked with a shock return to managerless Swindon Town.

The 52-year-old parted company with play-off chasing Forest Green last week after a near five-year tenure at the League Two club, where he guided Rovers to the football league for the first time in their history in his first season and a place in the play-offs in his third season at the helm.

Cooper is now being tipped for a second stint at the League One strugglers, where he steered Town to fourth place in League One in 2015 after beating Sheffield United in the play-off semi-finals they lost out to Preston in the final.

However, any appointment is likely to be made at the end of the season with Tommy Wright named caretaker manager until the end of the season after John Sheridan resigned at the weekend.
