Shortwood 3 Brockworth Albion 2
Fin Byrnes’ last-gasp goal gave Shortwood United back-to-back pre-season friendly victories, snatching a win against a dogged Brockworth Albion, writes Jim Cunneen.
The Nailsworth side opened the scoring just before the break when Elliot Martin found Jack Gardner with the perfect through ball for the midfielder to fizz the ball home.

Wood had the better of the opening phase of the second half with Elliot Martin heading over a Tyler Jaggers cross before the keeper made a fine save to keep out Jaggers’ 20-yard strike.
Brockworth netted parity with 30 minutes to go, Ash Bird on target for the Gloucester side. Meanwhile, Shortwood’s Travis Cooke was denied and Byrnes had a powerful drive headed off the line before Alex Gayner restored Wood’s lead with seven minutes to go thanks to an Ollie Price pass.

Bird levelled from the penalty spot for Brockworth, but with the last kick of the game, Alex Gayner shot across the keeper and the ball rebounded off the post for Byrnes to slam the ball home.
