Cainscross Town Council is celebrating after being awarded £80,000 in funding from The National Lottery Community Fund.
The funding will be used to update the playground at Victory Park.
While some of the existing play equipment will be kept and refurbished, most of it will be replaced. New items will include a roundabout which can be used with wheelchairs, a double wide slide, an accessible trampoline, a basket swing and two multi-play items. The aim is to create a playground where all children will feel welcome and where children with different abilities can play alongside each other.
National Lottery players raise over £30 million a week for good causes across the UK. The National Lottery Community Fund distributes a share of this to projects to support people and communities to prosper and thrive.
Jen Marshall, Clerk to Cainscross Town Council, said: “Thanks to National Lottery players, this grant means we now have in place all the funds needed to update the playground.
“This will make a big difference to the lives of local children and families. We would also like to thank Tesco, Stroud District Council and GWR Communities who also supported this project with funding.”
During the pandemic, in 2020 alone, The National Lottery Community Fund distributed almost £1 billion to charities and community organisations across the UK.
