A major road route leading to Whiteshill has been closed after a Land Rover vehicle brought down an overhead power cable.
Around 80 properties in the area are without electricity, with a statement on the National Grid website saying: ‘There is a fault on our low voltage network in your area which we are working hard to resolve.’

The incident was reported at 1.37pm with engineers estimating power will be restored around 4.30pm.
An eyewitness who sent these pictures to Stroud Times after the incident occurred in the Farmhill area of Stroud this afternoon, said: “I’m amazed nobody was seriously injured. The vehicle mounted the pavement and has brought down a wall and a pole.

“People are on the scene trying to turn off the electrics and the police are in attendance and a recovery vehicle is on the way to remove the Land Rover.”
