Nick Ponting, presenter of Amazon Prime Video’s “Lovecars On The Road,” is set to make a triumphant return to the race circuit.
After two decades since he first competed in the Ginetta Junior Championship, Ponting will be back behind the wheel, taking part in the Ginetta GT Academy.
This exciting one-off outing coincides with the anniversary of the Ginetta Junior Championship’s launch.

Throughout the years, the Ginetta Junior Championship has been recognized as the most prestigious Junior series in the UK and has been the breeding ground for many successful drivers including McLaren Formula One Driver Lando Norris, W Series Champion Jamie Chadwick and BTCC drivers champion Tom Ingram.
“This is a full-circle moment for me,” said Ponting. “Racing in the Ginetta Junior Championship all those years ago was the beginning of my motorsport journey, and I’m so excited to be back behind the wheel of a Ginetta. It’s a fantastic opportunity to honor the legacy of the championship but also to now experience a step up in Ginetta’s motorsport ladder with the GT Academy car.”

As part of this special event, Ponting will be filming a feature for an upcoming motorsport special set to stream on Amazon Prime Video this summer. “When it dawned on me that I started racing (cars) 20 years ago, I knew there would be an interesting story to tell so to have the opportunity to film and document this working alongside Ginetta is great.”

Ponting will be racing during the same weekend as the renowned British GT Championship, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event. With trackside fans in their thousands and the racing available to stream online/TV, it’s one not to miss.
