A star-studded line-up will take to the pitch in Gloucester’s first celebrity charity football match, in association with Gloucester City AFC at The New Meadow Park.
The goal is to bring awareness and funds to three local youth charities, Increase the Peace, The Ramarni Trust and The Music Works. Organiser Ben Conie said: “You may already be aware, recently a young teen was a victim of knife crime and lost his life at the age of only 16. The next generation of youth is really important and by raising support for them will help them massively.
“With the money raised, we will be funding specific knife bins around the city and a 16-foot knife angel outside Gloucester Cathedral. This star-studded event will bring something positive to the city – the early bird tickets have already sold out and there is a real buzz going around the city.
“I am looking at getting two celebrities to manage the two football teams! Local businesses are sponsoring the event and we are hoping to sell out the New Meadow Park football stadium!”
