A mass gathering to celebrate the purchase of an historic beauty spot in Stroud has been postponed due to safety concerns.
The event at the Heavens Valley, Stroud, was due to take place today, Sunday at 10.30am.
Spokesperson Sue Fenton said: “After much discussion, we have decided to postpone today’s gathering in the Heavens. We are mindful of potential risks from falling trees and the extremely muddy conditions in the valley.”
The Heavens Valley Action Group purchased the 100-acre land around Thrupp Farm in Stroud last month. The £850,000 purchase cost (including legal fees) was funded by £300,000 in donations and share sales and by £550,000 in bridging loans from two committed local people.
The event will now take place next Sunday, December 15th, again at 10.30am.
