A popular independent bike shop is set to close next month.
CYTEK repairs and spares, has been in business for 25 years on the Cainscross Road near Stroud, but will shut for the last time on November 4.
Owner Shane Dickenson told Stroud Times: “I’ve been working six days a week for 25 years and I want some time off.”
Shane plans to repair bikes, but will scale his operation down to allow him time to cycle and spend time with his grandchildren, he added: “Anyone interested in opening a bike shop, now is a good time and I will have many shop fittings for sale.”
Cyclist Tim Rimmer praised Shane’s customer service skills: “You couldn’t find a more helpful and friendly bike shop owner. Shane is always willing to help me when I’ve attempted my own servicing and repairs and got it wrong. And when I’ve had to do an emergency visit, he would educate me where I went wrong, with a knowing smile.”
The closure follows the recent news that Halfords at the Five Valleys Shopping Centre will shut next month.
