Persimmon Homes Severn Valley has donated £2,000 to Stroud District Foodbank as part of its Community Champions initiative.

Stroud District Foodbank relies on the support of the local community through volunteering, financial and food donations and fundraising. Persimmon’s donation will go towards funding crisis food and holiday food parcels this Christmas.

Stroud District Foodbank’s four part-time paid staff, six volunteer trustees, and 200 regular volunteers help to support residents across Stroud and the surrounding areas.

The foodbank’s clients are referred to them by over 150 frontline agencies who identify people in need and issue them with a foodbank referral.

The Foodbank have a central warehouse in Brimscombe where the food is stored before being transferred to a network of drop-in centres. Referred local residents are then able to collect packages from one of the centres across the district and those unable to collect can opt for a home delivery.

The five-star housebuilder’s Severn Valley Community Champions scheme donates £24,000 each year to various community organisations and good causes in the areas where it develops.

Amanda Strover, Foodbank Manager at Stroud District Foodbank, thanked Persimmon for the donation and said: “The run up to Christmas is our busiest time of the year, so Persimmon’s donation will help us to support more local residents across the community with food donations over this festive period.

“Thank you to Persimmon for their kind donation, and to all of our volunteers for their continued dedication and hard work.”

Carly Spear, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes Severn Valley, said: “Stroud District Foodbank provide a vital service for residents across Stroud and the surrounding local area who are in need of support.

“That is why we are delighted to support the foodbank with a £2,000 donation as part of our commitment to leaving a lasting positive legacy in the areas where we develop.”
