Being a beginner takes courage, and as entrepreneurs it’s so easy for us to just carry on doing the one thing we are great at.
However, as the past year has starkly illustrated in my own life, having multiple streams of income, no matter how modest, makes the difference between having a life and having a lifestyle.
Over the years I’ve tried lots of new ideas out, some of which have flown and some of which have flopped. Taking failure as a lesson – so there are good days and there are learning days – is the one thing which keeps me reinventing myself, starting new things and learning new skills as I go along.
I think the main thing is not to wait until you are ready – you are never going to be ready. Put yourself out there, share your skills, come from a place of wanting to give great value and to serve others, keep your values front and centre, and take on feedback (there will be plenty).
Learn from experience, repeat.
What have you been putting off doing but really want to do in your business or enterprise?
There is no time like the present, and I have always made decisions about starting new things with this thought – “If I don’t do this, will I regret not having tried when I am too old to be able to do it?” If the answer is yes, I’ll give it a go, to the best of my ability.
So this is your permission slip to try out a new thing.
