Every awards event I go to sees loads of the gongs going to Stroud-based ventures and venues, and there seem to be new businesses popping up all around us!
Here in Kendrick Street we are surrounded by exciting new enterprises.
Peanut New York Style Deli and Smokery, who recently ran a very successful pop up are opening soon opposite the Sub Rooms, Humphries and Begg with their gloriously jolly prints are opening on Saturdays over the festival season then going for the big official launch in September, Butterfly Ball for all things crystal magic to vintage style dresses and funky dungarees opposite us, the brand new Curl Central salon above the ever fabulous Razmachaz boutique.
‘Health Nuts’, a well-being centre with a new juice bar is under construction by Chris and Alex opposite Ginger Deli in the old Trading Post building, following Simon’s retirement.
Simon still has a couple of racks of vinyl in The Sub Rooms Box Office as well as trading on ebay, and can be found DJing at the occasional event in town.
My top three tips for shopping in Kendrick Street;
- Naildy – where Ruby Wax recently had her pre-show manicure!
- Ginger Deli for the best cake you’ve ever tasted
- Paul Westley Opticians for the coolest frames in town
I don’t think I could find anywhere in the UK I’d rather live than Stroud. Lucky us!!
