Longfield Community Hospice’s annual fete, which was due to take place this Saturday, August 5th, has fallen victim to the unseasonal weather.
A statement on social media said: “Unfortunately, as wind and rain is forecast for Saturday, we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel the Summer Fete.
“Our priority is the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, suppliers and everyone attending.
“Please accept our apologies and thank you for supporting us. If you were planning to come to the fete and you’d like to make a donation, you can do so here: https://buff.ly/3KodHWA“
Established in the 1987 as Cotswold Care Hospice, Longfield is based at Burleigh Lane, Minchinhampton, and supports adults with life-limiting illnesses from their diagnosis onwards.
The charity relies on donations to carry on their work – around 85 per cent of their income is from sales in their shops, the weekly lottery, gifts in wills – and events like the fete.
