The team at Five Valleys have confirmed Sports Direct will be opening a new 10,000 sq ft unit at the shopping centre.
Stroud Times revealed the move last month that Sports Direct would be switching from their Union Street unit to the Five Valleys Shopping Centre.
The Five Valleys store will offer the world’s biggest sports and lifestyle brands across footwear, clothing and equipment as well as featuring more brands from Frasers Group’s ecosystem including USC and GAME.
The unit, which can be found opposite the bustling indoor food market, became vacant in September last year when household convenience store, Wilko, announced their nationwide closure.
The team at Dransfield Properties who own, manage and are leading on a £30m refurbishment of the shopping centre, quickly got to work partitioning the unit and speaking to potential occupiers.
Managing Director at Dransfield Properties, James Shepherd, said: “We are delighted to be working with Sports Direct on their move to Five Valleys, which will see investment in Stroud, additional jobs and better brands coming to the town.
“We hope to make announcements soon on the retailer taking the unit next door.”
A spokesperson from Frasers Group commented: “We are pleased to be opening a new 10,000 sq. ft Sports Direct store, located in Stroud’s Five Valleys. The store will offer customers the world’s best sports and lifestyle brands, as well as bring other brands from Frasers Group’s ecosystem, including USC and GAME, to the location.”
Sports Direct hope to be opening their new store in Spring this year.
