A woman has died following a serious collision near Stonehouse this afternoon, Monday.

Emergency services were called at 12.55pm with a report of a collision involving a green Nissan Micra and grey Vauxhall Astra on the B4008 Gloucester Road in Standish.

A police spokesperson said: “The driver of the Nissan Micra, a 79-year-old woman from Gloucester, was treated by paramedics at the scene but passed away from her injuries. Her next of kin has been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

“The driver of the Vauxhall, a 34-year-old man from Gloucester, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, driving without a license and driving without insurance. He remains in police custody at this time.”

The B4008 Gloucester Road remains closed from the junction for the Javelin Park incinerator to Horsemarling Lane to allow a collision investigation to take place.

These closures are expected to remain in place for a number of hours with motorists asked to plan their route in advance and avoid the area.
