Loganberry coffee shop customer Chris Fry has paid tribute to owner Janette Brain who has decided to close the popular independent Stroud High Street cafe.
Popular Janette shut the door for the final time on Christmas Eve after more than two years of trading.
She said: “After two years of keeping you supplied with coffee, cake & sausage rolls, I have decided to give myself a break and spend a little more time with my family.
“I have enjoyed your company and cheerful banter, words of encouragement and praise of the cake.
“I am also going to miss my fellow traders. We have a wonderful, supportive community in the town, and I hope you will continue to #shoplocal. I am sure the Loganberry space will be quickly filled.”

For customer Chris, the closure will certainly create a coffee shop drinking void: “Loganberry has become a bit of a catch-all in terms of quite a bit in my social activity.
“Since this place opened the proprietor, Jeanette has given her all in ensuring this little cafe is one of Stroud’s finest places to meet and greet, watch the world go by and make new friends in the town. She’s kindly and warm, has a lovely word for everyone, always. I’ve never known her to be less than wholly welcoming.
“All her produce has been of high quality. Home-made cakes and sausage rolls, wholesome soups and, in summer, wonderful Gelato.

“She’s been there all hours, early start to catch the going-to-work trade, long morning and then the afternoon and clearing up. When she’s not serving drinks, she’s making food and chatting to everyone that comes in with very good cheer. Generally, six days a week. Some stint indeed I reckon.
“Jeanette is taking some time back. We only have one go at it after all and I, for one, wish her every success and happiness in whatever she chooses to do for the future. All her crowd will miss her greatly but many will realise, all is for the best, in the best possible of all worlds.”
