Stroud MP Siobhan Baillie invited the chair of Dursley Rugby Ladies RFC to a Downing Street reception to honour people across the country who bring communities together through sport.
Katie Thomson joined Ms Baillie to go through the famous back door of No10 for the event. She has worked hard for many years with her team to introduce as many women as they can to the sport, through skills, social events, fitness and those all-important match days.
The team is presently playing in National Challenge 2 League, South West (North).
“I was chuffed to invite Katie to this event where people like her are honoured for the work they do bringing communities together through sport and helping with fitness and mental wellbeing into the bargain,” said Ms Baillie.
“Without local sports champions, like Katie, who spend so much of their free time making sure clubs and activities run, our district would be a poorer place. She is an inspiring woman on her own merit and I encourage everybody to follow the club on Instagram as I love their social media.”
