Edwards: we’re really thankful to everyone as it’s great recognition for the football club

Forest Green Rovers manager Rob Edwards has scooped his second Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month gong.

Limited to just three games in November, Edwards’ side won them all by a two-goal margin to maintain their grip on League Two. He has instilled a calm assurance and belief, as well as an expansive attacking style using the full width of the pitch with outstanding wing-backs Nicky Cadden and Kane Wilson pivotal to the success.

However, the ever bashful Edwards, who scooped the award in August, was quick to praise the team and his backroom staff. He said: “It’s a mark of how well everyone has done, from the staff to the players.

“This is a team effort and everyone is involved.

“We win, lose and draw together as one group.

“We haven’t achieved anything after nineteen games, so we just need to keep working hard.

“We’re really thankful to everyone as it’s great recognition for the football club.”

Danny Wilson chairs the Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel.

He said: “Forest Green maintained their place at the top of the table with a 100% record, with Rob keeping his team focused and confident going into the December fixtures.”

Sky Sports’ EFL pundit Don Goodman said: “Forest Green didn’t play much football in November, but they dealt with the few assignments they had with real professionalism and style.

“Rob Edwards has his side playing some fantastic stuff at present, so it’s little wonder Rovers brushed aside their three opponents so comfortably.”

Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies said: “Under Rob Edwards Forest Green were once again rampant during November winning all three league games as the Green Army opened up a six-point lead at the top of Sky Bet League Two and into as short as 8/15 to finish the season as champions.

“League Two was unbelievably competitive before a ball had been kicked this season and we had Forest Green as one of the favourites to go up at 3/1.

“Now at as short as 1/12 for promotion, they look highly likely to be playing League One football next season for the first time in their history.”

The Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel comprises former Barnsley manager Danny Wilson, Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; EFL Communications Director Mark Rowan, and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.
