Egg-cellent: Painswick Easter egg hunt is back

The popular Painswick Easter egg hunt will take place next month.

Now in its 16th year, this great family day out raises vital funds for the Painswick village playgroup and will take place on Easter Saturday, March 30th, 12-4pm.

As is tradition, decorated eggs generously sponsored by local businesses will be dotted around Painswick village for everyone to find. This year’s theme is children’s books.

Alongside egg hunting, there will also be a range of activities on offer in St Mary’s Churchyard on the day including face-painting, tombola, raffle, cake and plant stalls, fete style games, hot food vans and hot drinks.

Calling all bakers – the organisers will be welcoming entries into the Painswick Bake Off and ask any cake donations to be brought to the memorial ground (by the war memorial) in St Mary’s churchyard by 11am.

Special guest judges Cath Kidston MBE and Dr Dawn Harper will head up the bake-off judging. Once tested the remaining cakes will be sold to raise funds for the charity. Due to popular demand, this year there will be a new under-16 category. There will be a prize for the winning bake and best decorated. (Not all cakes have to be judged and cake donations are very welcome too).

Maps are available online now and the trail can be completed at any point between Easter Saturday and Tuesday 2nd April 2024. Printed maps will also be available on the day in St Mary’s Churchyard. All maps provide egg hunters with entry to a prize draw for a John Lewis voucher.

St Mary’s Church will be open for refreshments, and they will be running an easter egg decorating competition for children, with the winner announced at the Easter Sunday Family Service at 9:30am.

Painswick’s village pubs, shops and cafes will all be open serving food and drinks.

The organisers would like to thank the continued support of Gold Sponsor Hamptons.
