A new haven for relaxation and recovery is set to open its doors as Embers @ The Lake officially welcomes visitors to Cromhall Quarry.
Nestled by the crystal-clear waters of The Lake, this new sauna facility offers a unique opportunity to unwind, rejuvenate, and connect with nature, complementing The Lake’s existing offerings of open water swim sessions, scuba diving, paddleboarding, and swimming workshops.
To mark its grand opening, Embers Sauna is hosting a special launch night on Thursday, July 17th, from 4:00 to 9:00 PM at The Lake. This celebratory evening invites the public to experience the sauna for free.
“We are incredibly excited to bring our new sauna to the picturesque shores of The Lake,” said Ed and Claire Charles, owners of Embers, who are already operating a successful sauna at Marine Lake Plaza in Weston-super-Mare.
“Our aim is to create a space where people can truly switch off, recover, and feel the profound benefits of heat and stillness in this beautiful setting.”

Attendees can enjoy a sunset sauna session, grab a bite to eat, sip on chilled drinks (food and beverages will be available for purchase), and soak up the relaxed atmosphere by The Lake. No booking is needed for the launch event; guests are encouraged to simply swing by and enjoy the heat.
Paul Breen, Outdoor Activities Manager at The Lake, highlighted the health benefits of the new feature:
“The synergy between a cold water swim in The Lake and a session with Embers Sauna will be fantastic for recovery and overall well-being.
“It can boost circulation, aid muscle recovery, and provide a uniquely invigorating experience.”
Embers @ The Lake is designed to be a sanctuary for deep relaxation, post-exercise recovery, or simply somewhere to spend quality time with friends and family.

While many will enjoy the invigorating combination of a cold-water swim and a hot sauna, sessions are open to everyone, regardless of whether they choose to take a dip in The Lake. A cold-water shower will be available for a refreshing cool-down, with plans to introduce plunge pools in the future.
“Embers Sauna will be a fantastic addition to the already diverse range of experiences available here,” added Carl Hewlett, Marketing Manager at The Lake.
“The sauna will really enhance the offering for lake users, providing a unique wellness option that will appeal to both our regular customers and new visitors looking for something special.
“It’s about creating a holistic experience that caters to body and mind, and the picturesque surroundings here at The Lake will complement that notion.”
Coinciding with the Embers Sauna launch night, The Lake will unveil its newly renovated swim shop. This new look store will cater to open water swimmers and triathletes, offering a comprehensive selection of swimming accessories, goggles, robes, and Lake merchandise. An extensive range of Zoggs wetsuits will also be available, alongside wetsuit fitting services.
Following the launch, Embers @ The Lake will offer both communal and private-hire sauna sessions throughout the week. Regular opening times will run alongside open water swim sessions at The Lake on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, as well as Saturdays and Sundays.
Communal sauna sessions, accommodating up to ten people, are priced at £5 for 15 minutes, £8 for 30 minutes, and £12 for 60 minutes. These sessions can be booked in advance online at embers-sauna.co.uk or on the day, subject to availability.
