England and Arsenal legend Theo Walcott was spotted enjoying a Sunday roast at the Woolpack in Slad this afternoon, Sunday.
The former Arsenal winger, who made 397 Premier League appearances and played 47 times for England and was happy to pose for a picture with Arsenal fan Deryck Hitchman, who was enjoying a drink with his partner Nora McNamara.
A delighted Deryck told Stroud Times: “Theo’s whole family were lovely and he is a true gent. Liam Brady and Dennis Bergkamp are my favourite players, but Theo is a top Gooner.”
In a glittering career, Walcott, 35, retired last summer after playing for Arsenal, Everton and Southampton.
He shot to fame in 2006 as a 17-year-old when he was surprisingly selected in Sven Goran Eriksson’s England World Cup squad.
Walcott appeared 47 times for England, scoring eight times in a decade-long international career.
Walcott, who was a free agent but made 20 Premier League appearances and scored three goals for Southampton last season as they went down to the Championship.
