This Friday, June 21st, Longfield Community Hospice in Minchinhampton is hosting an evening walk across Minchinhampton and Rodborough Commons, followed by food and live entertainment in the hospice’s tranquil gardens.
Entrants can choose either a 5k walk which takes under an hour to complete, or a 10k walk which takes two hours or more, depending on your pace. Both walks are self-guided and cover some of the Cotswold’s most stunning countryside, with breathtaking panoramic views guaranteed.
Walkers set off from the hospice between 5.30pm and 6.30pm and afterwards can join Longfield for a burger, pudding and a drink, accompanied by live music, garden games and a bar. This is a great event for all the family – dogs are welcome too.
Karen’s story
Karen is walking with her sisters in memory of their brother, Stephen: “After Stephen’s cancer diagnosis last year, he spent a lot of time at Longfield’s Wellbeing Centre and felt relaxed and at peace while he was there – it’s such a lovely space.
“We’re so grateful for the care that Stephen received from the Longfield team and we’re doing this walk to give a little back so the hospice can be there for other families who need support.”
Last year, Longfield cared for 1,633 people after a devastating diagnosis or bereavement changed everything. Money raised from the walk will help the charity support even more local families at the hardest times imaginable.
