Movement Your Way is Parkinson’s UK’s new programme of bite-size videos to help everyone with a connection to the condition to get active.

Developed in partnership with leading content creators, 1FitLife, the new programme includes 21 workout videos that are designed to be accessible and easy to follow for all levels of fitness and experience.

During the summer months, the charity will continue to highlight the new range of videos, as well as their existing library of resources to help more people with lower mobility, or with less access to traditional physical activity and wellbeing programmes an opportunity to move more.

From breath work and mindfulness techniques, to walkouts and press kick combinations, among many others, each video has a step-by-step structured approach with a dedicated personal instructor taking users through each routine.

Every video has been designed to be a friendly, accessible and repeatable way for more people with Parkinson’s to get active and move more in summer and beyond.

Instructors, Adam, Ahmed, Kev and Yanar all bring their own specialisms to the programme and each video has been specially developed to give everyone the confidence to be more active with the condition.

Speaking about Movement Your Way, Anna Castiaux, Physical Activity Programme Lead at Parkinson’s UK, said:

“I’m delighted to see the final videos for the Movement Your Way programme, and it’s been fantastic to continue our partnership with the team from 1FitLife.

“I would also like to extend my thanks to everyone involved in the production of the new exercise programme, especially our instructors, Adam, Ahmed, Kev and Yanar.

“Being active with Parkinson’s is all about finding the activities and movements that work for you, and my hope is that more people diagnosed with the condition will be able to take advantage of our new step-by-step programme.

“Movement Your Way is all about having a menu of bitesize exercises that anyone can do, regardless of experience or activity level, plus it’s designed to be repeatable and adaptable.

“If you’ve never thought about being active with Parkinson’s, or if you’re looking at new ways to get started, then I’d encourage everyone to give Movement Your Way a try.”

Jessica Overton, Managing Director at 1FitLife, said: “Working with Parkinson’s UK on Movement Your Way has been an incredibly meaningful project for our team. Together, we created a series of accessible and easy-to-follow videos designed to fit naturally into everyday life.

“We know that shorter, more approachable sessions can feel far less overwhelming and much easier to return to consistently, especially for people living with fluctuating symptoms, energy levels or confidence. That’s why every video was designed to be accessible, supportive and achievable, while still helping people feel the benefits of movement.”

Being active is shown to have many benefits for people living with Parkinson’s, including improved balance and coordination, better strength, flexibility and mobility, and an enhanced sense of wellbeing and mindfulness.

Parkinson’s is a complex brain condition that gets worse over time. It has more than 40 symptoms, from tremor and pain to anxiety, and there is no cure. Someone is diagnosed with Parkinson’s in the UK every 20 minutes and by 2050, the number of people living with the condition worldwide will double to 25 million.
