Explicit warning message appears on main road

Motorists travelling across Minchinhampton Common had a shock when they came across an explicit message daubed on the carriageway this morning.

A spray-painted message on Cirencester Road, near the junction with Brimscombe Hill and Tom Long’s Post advised travellers to ‘Slow the f*** down’.

A Gloucestershire County Council spokesperson said: “We’d absolutely encourage all traffic to comply with the speed limits across the commons and anyone with concerns over speeding can contact the Police to report them.

“We’re disappointed that someone has chosen to spray paint the road. This has put themselves at risk, creates extra work for our busy highway teams and will mean an impact to all road users whilst the cleaning up takes place.

“We’d encourage anyone who spots issues like this to report them online at Fix My Street so that we can take care of them as quickly as possible.”
