Farewell to the Sub Rooms’ mirror ball

After more than a year in residency, the iconic Sub Rooms’ mirror ball has been brought back to earth.

The giant ball has hung in resplendence from the balcony edge for more than a year and was today lowered by artist and creator Jack Wimperis and Mark Anderson.

Jack revealed the 25-year-old ball, which started life as a globe, has had an interesting history. He explained: “The ball was originally made for a client in Piccadilly, at a club called Sugar Reef, but lorries kept driving into it, so we took it down and it has hung in Mark’s garden for years – it goes out occasionally, but it was really nice to see it on display outside the Sub Rooms.”
