I’m one of those people who love having their feet touched, so when my boss said, “Would you like to review a new reflexologist in Stroud?”, I was already peeling my socks off. Reflexology has been a part of my life for over 20 years, ever since my husband introduced me to it — and I’ve been hooked ever since.
Therapies for the Soul, run by Sam Bridle, is a fresh addition to the Stroud wellness scene. Sam works out of The Convent, a serene and historic space tucked away in Stroud. That’s where I met her for my treatment — and what an experience it was.

Sam, with her striking red hair and warm, calming presence, greeted me with a kindness that immediately put me at ease. We wandered through cool, peaceful corridors and up a winding staircase to her treatment room — a small, cosy haven full of character. The room still boasts its original features, and is decorated with thoughtful trinkets, anatomical charts, soothing lotions, and a gentle sense of sanctuary.

After filling out a quick medical form, I hopped onto the treatment couch and asked Sam about her journey into complementary therapies. A born-and-bred Stroudie, she explained that she’s juggling a full-time job alongside building her new business:
“I just want to do something meaningful and make people happy,” she tells me.
Sam trained as a reflexologist during Covid and couldn’t wait to get started — and I can see why. She has that rare ability to make you feel instantly comfortable, and it’s clear she knows her craft.
Reflexology is one of those mysterious things. I couldn’t tell you exactly what is being done to my feet — all I know is, it feels REALLY good. With a lavender eye mask dimming the light, I drifted into that dreamlike state only reflexology can bring. My mind conjured up strange but comforting imagery — pale fish, brown bears, prehistoric birds, even a bottle opener — which made me inwardly chuckle. It’s not unusual for me during a session. Some people see colours. Others fall asleep. For me, reflexology is like dreaming with your eyes open — a gentle reset for the mind and body.

My hour-long treatment ended with a surprising twist: Oracle Cards. New to me, but a lovely way to gently ground myself before heading back into the real world. As Sam walked me back through the Convent, I felt relaxed, rebalanced, and genuinely cared for.

Alongside reflexology, Sam also offers Reiki and Thai Foot Massage. Whether you’re new to complementary therapies or a seasoned fan like me, I wholeheartedly recommend a visit.
