Forest Green owner Dale Vince has taken a swipe at Stroud District Council after winning his appeal to build a large marquee at Rovers’ Eco Park training ground.
Mr Vince’s request to Stroud District Council for a relocation of the club’s temporary 600 square metre white marquee was booted out last May by planners.
However, after winning the appeal, the Forest Green chief and Ecotricity owner revealed the structure will now provide an indoor training facility for Steve Cotterill’s side at Rovers’ training ground at Junction 13, near Eastington, off the M5 motorway.
Posting on X, Mr Vince said: “We’ve just won permission to put a tent up at our training ground – on appeal. OK, it’s a marquee actually (a big tent) but what is going on with Stroud District Council planners? They need to take a good, long look at themselves and their decision-making – it’s not just FGR that has suffered from ridiculous decisions, people across the district are frustrated, and progress is held back due to an often high-handed approach, divorced from the realities of life, in the name of ‘conservation’. We need better.”
Stroud Times approached Stroud District Council but was told by a spokesperson: “We don’t wish to comment at this time.”
