A brand new bar is set to open in Stroud town centre in time for St Patrick’s Day.
King Street Social Tap will officially open at 10am on Monday, March 17, creating up to 20 new jobs.
The scheme marks a new chapter for the site on King Street after high street fashion retailer M & Co departed in 2023.
The new pub from the Amber Taverns chain will provide a contemporary and cozy interior designed for comfort and enjoyment. An extensive selection of drinks, including craft beers, fine wines, and inventive cocktails alongside live sports.

Amber Taverns invests heavily in restoring and creating new premises that are often in conservation areas or listed buildings.
Gary Roberts, Operations Director for Amber Taverns Limited, told Stroud Times: “Amber Taverns have looked at a number of opportunities in Stroud over the last 10 years and have finally managed to secure a great location in the heart of the town centre.

“The design team have managed to create a space inside the former retail unit that will deliver an amazing community pub experience for locals and visitors alike. The town council have been really supportive at getting the project from planning to reality.
“The operations team will deliver a wide range sir cask, craft and world beers whilst maintaining great value for money. We pride ourselves with a great selection of wines and spirits to tantalise all tastebuds, even those that prefer the non-alcoholic drinks such as Guinness 0% , Heineken 0% and selected 0% spirits.

“Keep an eye on our website and follow us on social media for updates and sneak previews as we get closer to the big day.”

The chain currently operates 165 public houses across England, Scotland, and Wales — including ‘The Doctors’ in nearby Gloucester and The Eagle Social Tap in Cheltenham.
