Cirencester Devs 0 Shortwood 5 – UHL Hellenic League

Shortwood made it back-to-back wins with an emphatic 5-0 victory over Cirencester Development at the Corninum Stadium.

The game was done and dusted by halftime as Wood scored all their goals in the opening 45 minutes.

Wood opened the scoring on 18 minutes. Nathan Payne’s free-kick found the head of captain Joe Tryner who watched Andrews parry his first effort before he slammed in the free ball.

Andrews then saved well from Orgest Pepa before Wood doubled the score line after 27 minutes. Jake Rhodes was the instigator with good control to set up Luke Soule for a trademark tap-in. The third came after 34 minutes when Payne robbed a defender and shot home.

There was time for two more before the break. Ben Tunnicliff scored his first for the club with a towering header from a Payne corner and Soule scored his second, converting a Keegan Bowes low cross.

Manager Ian Soule rang the changes in the second half but there was no letup from the procession towards the Ciren goal. Andrews made a series of saves, Earle and Rhodes both hit the woodwork and Wood peppered shots from all angles but could not add to the tally.

Star man: Nathan Payne

Shortwood: Billy Thomas, Marks (Barrett 60), Harper Emerson, Pepa, Tryner, Tunnicliff (Peyton 45), Payne (Earle 65), Tosdevine, Soule (Lewis 60), Rhodes (Byrnes 65), Bowes
