Nicky Cadden is the latest departure from Forest Green’s title-winning side, joining League One rivals Barnsley on a two-year deal.
The 25-year-old had been in talks with Rovers’ director of football Richard Hughes over a new deal but opted to join Michael Duff’s Tykes, where he will join former Forest Green players, Liam Kitching and Jack Aitchison.
The left wing-back scored 10 goals in 87 games, including six in 48 last season with 13 assists and six goals.
Cadden previously played north of the border for Airdrieonians, Livingston, Ayr United and Greenock Morton. He is the twin brother of Hibernian midfielder Chris Cadden.
He joins Ebou Adams (Cardiff), Dan Sweeney (Stevenage) and Kane Wilson (Bristol City) in rejecting offers to stay at The Bolt New Lawn.
Cadden, who joins on a free transfer, told the club website: “As soon as I spoke to the club, it was very positive.
“It seemed like they really wanted me. It looks like a great place to play football. I’m excited and can’t wait for the season to start.”
