Forest Green Legends will face Brimscombe Veterans in a charity football match to remember much-loved football stalwart Allan Boulton.
Popular Allan, who served Forest Green and more recently in his role as secretary at Brimscombe & Thrupp, died at the age of 56 last December.
A true football man, Allan was a coach driver for KB Coaches and was behind the wheel for National League South outfit Weston-super-Mare and had also driven for Forest Green and Gloucester City.
Forest Green Legends will roll back years when they bring a team to The Meadow on Sunday, September 1, noon kick-off and will face a Brimscombe Veterans side to remember Allan and raise funds for the Gloucestershire Air Ambulance service.
Former Forest Green striker Alex Meechan said: “Allan was a top man and we’re so pleased we can do this.
“Alex Sykes, Paul Hunt, Dave Mehew, Matty Coupe, Marc McGregor, Scott Rogers, Rob Cousins, Stuart Fleetwood, Yan Klukowski, Steve Jones, Steve Winter, Tommy Callinan are confirmed names, who will play in the game and Rob Cook is coming back from Australia to play. We also hope to get former Forest Green managers Frank Gregan and Colin Addison to attend the game along with non-playing attendees Steve Perrin, Ian Hedges, Billy Clark, Adie Mings and Mike Kilgour.”
Former Forest Green star Alex Sykes, added: ” This is a fantastic reason to get the FGR lads together. We have been chatting about it for some time , the passing of Al gives us a great excuse to come together for someone who did so much for the club.
“From the lads point of view it has been a while since our last get together so it will be great to see everyone. At these occasions it’s always great to catch up and chat, so the football becomes an after thought, but I also know, with the competitive nature in us all that the game will be great too. Alex Meechan, Scotty Rogers and myself have done what we can to round up a really good group to honour Alan in the best way possible.”
