Forest Green have signed left-sided defender Dominic Thompson on loan until the end of the season from Blackpool.

Thompson joins Rovers on loan from League One side Blackpool, where he has made 11 appearances this season.

The 23-year-old started his career at Arsenal and then earned a move to Brentford where he made 19 appearances, including two in the top flight in the Bees’ maiden Premier League campaign. During his time at Brentford, he enjoyed loan spells with Swindon Town and Ipswich Town.

The exciting full-back left Brentford to join Blackpool in the summer of 2022 for an undisclosed fee. He has played over 40 times for the Seasiders, including an appearance in Blackpool’s 3-0 win over FGR in the FA Cup second round.

Upon joining Rovers, Thompson said: “It’s great to be here. I’m hoping to get a lot of games under my belt and to have a big impact on this team.

“I’ve spoken to the gaffer a couple of times and we had some great chats. He’s one of the biggest influences in me making this move.

“He’s explained how he sees my role and he wants me to express myself and use my athleticism and quality on the ball.”

Troy Deeney, Head Coach, added: “We are really, really lucky to have Dom. He’s Championship quality. He’s shown a real desire and commitment to come here as he had offers from League One clubs and Scottish Prem sides.

“We’re really excited to have him and a huge thanks to Blackpool for making it happen.”
