Forest Green Rovers are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Callum Jones on a season-long loan from Championship outfit Hull City.

Jones, who has represented Wales at U20s level, becomes Rovers third signing of the summer transfer window.

Born in Birkenhead, Jones joined current club Hull from Bury in 2019. He has since made 11 first-team appearances for the Championship side.

The 22-year-old has previously had loan spells at Morecambe and Grimsby Town. He scored two goals in 18 appearances while at Morecambe at the start of the 2021/22 season, while his loan spell at the Mariners in 2022 was cut short due to injury.

In January, Jones penned a new deal at Hull, keeping him at the Tigers until the summer of 2025.

Upon his arrival at FGR, Jones said: “I had a good chat with the gaffer a couple of weeks ago and he shared his ideas and future plans. It’s a club going in the right direction.

“I’m a player who loves to get on the ball and dictate the play. I can also get in amongst it. It’s a tough league and I can bring that physical side.”

Duncan Ferguson added: “We’re over the moon to have Callum with us for the season.

“He’ll give us real quality on the ball and also lots of energy when we’re trying to win it back. He’ll be a top addition.”

Director of Football, Allan Steele, said: “We’re very excited to see Callum at FGR.

‘We are looking forward to watching him continue his development and build relationships with all the staff and players here at the club.”
