Forest Green stalwart joins Rob Edwards at Luton Town

After nearly decade at Forest Green Rovers, Chief Operations Officer, James Mooney, is departing the club to take up a similar role at Luton Town.

With Luton just 90 minutes from a possible shot at the Premier League, Mooney is reunited with former Forest Green boss Rob Edwards.

James joined FGR back in 2014 having previously spent time at Ecotricity.

A former footballer for Minchinhampton, he started off as Club Secretary at FGR, before becoming Head of Football Operations, and then he was promoted to the role of Chief Operations Officer last October.

On leaving FGR, he said: “I’ve really enjoyed my near-10 years at the club, working with lots of great people, and I leave with some fantastic memories.

“However, the time has come to move on. I’m grateful to Dale (Vince) for giving me the opportunity – and having recently spoken to Marcus Reynolds (CEO) and Allan Steele (Director of Football) and hearing what they have planned for the future, it’s a really exciting time for the club.

“I wish everybody at the club the very best for the future.”
