Forest Green v Brighton U21s off due to waterlogged pitch

Tuesday’s Papa John’s Trophy fixture between Forest Green Rovers and Brighton U21s has been postponed because of a waterlogged pitch at The Fully Charged New Lawn.

With rain of Biblical proportions falling on the playing surface, match referee Antony Coggins called the game off an hour before kick-off.

Forest Green boss Rob Edwards was set to blood five academy players and get game time into Baily Cargill, Josh March, Ebou Adams, Josh March, Lewis Thomas, Sadou Diallo, and Jack Evans ahead of Rovers long trip to Carlisle United on Saturday.

BBC Radio Gloucestershire’s Billy Hunt spoke to Rob Edwards moments after tonight’s game was postponed. Watch the Forest Green boss deliver his thoughts in the tweet below.

Really frustrating for us we were really looking forward to the game

Five of the academy lads were going to be involved
