On a sensational day in the topsy-turvy recent history of Forest Green Rovers, we spoke to 12-year-old Forest Green fan Otto, who gives us his synopsis following the departure of boss David Horseman and the appointment of head coach Troy Deeney.
Fans’ view – Otto
Forest Green have appointed their fifth manager in a year, but fingers crossed, Troy Deeney is the right man to save the club from falling into non-league football.
Owner and chairman Dale Vince and director of football Allan Steele have put their faith in the former Premier League striker and will hand him a January transfer window war chest to beat the drop.
I believe Troy has a better understanding of the game having played at the top table with Watford just three years ago. He will help bring the best out of Morton, Omotoye and McAllister. I feel Troy will be more vocal and demanding of the squad and will give them the desire they need.
Former boss David Horseman and Louis Carey were afforded time and were nice people, but something had to give and the club have made the right decision with a raft of matches coming up and we all hope Troy can bring that new manager bounce we need.
