Former Dursley Town boss Karl Nash has made a dramatic return to football with ambitious Hellenic League outfit Stonehouse Town.

Nash was unveiled alongside recently installed boss Adam Coyle and will join a new look coaching set up, which will also feature former Shortwood United, Ledbury and Swindon Supermarine coach Matt Tunley.

A legend of the grassroots football scene in the county, Nash has also served the likes of Gloucester City, Slimbridge, Brimscombe and Cribbs, and had been expected to take a break from the game after seven years at the helm of the Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division One outfit, who he guided to third last season.

Announcing his departure last month, Nash was anticipating a season fishing, but revealed the lure of the Hellenic League tickled his fancy, he told Stroud Times: “I had a chat with Sean Wager (Stonehouse vice chairman), who I saw in the gym and he asked me if I fancied getting involved – I was adamant I needed a rest, but the ambition of the club appealed to me and I spoke to Adam (Coyle) and agreed to come. All looks promising and the club is being driven in the right direction.”

Nash will work in tandem with Tunley, who brings a wealth of coaching acumen to The Ben’s Takeaway Stadium. He was part of the Shortwood United coaching set up before becoming manager of Ledbury Town. The UEFA B licensed coach spent the latter part of last season alongside Stuart Fleetwood and former Shortwood boss Dan Gillespie at Southern Premier League Swindon Supermarine.

Magpies’ boss Coyle, who runs Nailsworth Computer Shop, told Stroud Times he was delighted to get the duo over the line: “I’m really happy to get Matt (Tunley) and Karl (Nash) in the management structure. Both are brilliant additions for the football club.

“They will demand the highest standards from the players on a constant basis and keep on challenging them in everything they do. I’m excited to get started on the training pitch with them this Thursday night.”
