Former Forest Green Rovers captain Udoka Godwin-Malife is set to join Reading after reportedly undergoing a medical ahead of a move to the Royals.
Godwin-Malife will team up with ex-Forest Green loanee Charlie Savage.
The 26-year-old joined Rovers under Mark Cooper in January 2019 from non-league Oxford City – and went on to make 128 appearances for the club.
He arrived at the club as a teenager with few senior appearances under his belt, but played an integral role in Rovers’ success, most notably in the League Two title win in 2022.
He left Rovers to sign for Swindon Town in August 2023 and after a successful, one-season stint at Swindon he joined League One side Burton Albion on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
Meanwhile, Godwin-Malife’s former team-mate at Rovers, Jack Aitchison has joined Bristol Rovers on a two-year deal following his departure from fellow League Two side Exeter City.
The 26-year-old spent three years with Exeter and was ever-present for them last season as they were relegated from League One.
