Former Forest Green duo Wes Burns and Kieffer Moore have helped Ipswich Town return to the Premier League after 22 years, beating Huddersfield Town 2-0 at Portman Road this afternoon.
Burns,29, opened the scoring as Kieran McKenna’s side worked the oracle to make it back-to-back promotions for the Tractor Boys.
Burns spent a month on loan at Forest Green in 2013 as an 18-year-old rookie striker from Bristol City. He subsequently spent a further loan spell at Cheltenham Town Oxford United, Fleetwood and Aberdeen, Fleetwood Town and Aberdeen, before joining Fleetwood Town permanently in January 2017. He spent five years at Fleetwood Town, and joined Ipswich in June 2021.
Bournemouth loanee Moore,31, who helped the Cherries to the Premier League, came on as a second half substitute this afternoon for the Tractor Boys. He played for Forest Green in the National League before signing for Ipswich in 2017 for £10,000.
