Former Forest Green midfielder Adam May is reportedly attracting interest from Cheltenham Town and several other EFL clubs.
May is believed to be a target for former Forest Green manager Steve Cotterill following his departure from Rovers by mutual consent on Monday.
The 27-year-old joined the Nailsworth club in July 2024 on a free transfer from Cambridge United, reuniting with former manager Steve Cotterill. He went on to make 50 appearances at New Lawn, although this season he has featured just once off the bench in Rovers’ National League opener at Solihull.
May made 115 league appearances across four years for Cambridge despite suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury in October 2022.
May came through the ranks at Portsmouth but spent much of his five years on loan at the likes of Sutton United, Aldershot Town and Swindon Town.
The commanding midfielder moved to the U’s in 2020 on a free transfer and played an influential role in a League Two promotion-winning season in 2020/2021.
He made 38 league appearances in League One the following season but suffered a long-term injury that hampered his progress in the 2022/23 campaign.
