Former Forest Green left wing-back Nick Cadden will become a free agent when his contract at Barnsley expires at the end of this month.
Cadden,27, agreed to a two-year deal with the Tykes when he made the switch from Forest Green, after helping Rovers to the League Two title.
His surprise release comes after the flying Scotsman made 44 appearances in League One last season.
Starting out in his native Scotland with Airdrieonians, he joined Rovers in July 2020 from Greenock Morton.
The wing-back enjoyed a productive two seasons with Rovers, scoring 10 goals with 22 assists in his 87 appearances for the Nailsworth-based outfit.
